1808 Historic Civil War HOUSE

This Beauty is a 1808 Historic farmstead two story Civil War House. The house sits on land that was part of the original Reed Crossing Farm, established in 1808. Because the original farmhouse dates back to this period, it stood prominently through the Civil War as East Tennessee became a bitterly divided, highly volatile conflict zone.It sits just a short distance north of where the Battle of Blue Springs took place on October 10, 1863. This battle was a significant push by Union forces under Major General Ambrose Burnside to clear the East Tennessee & Virginia Railroad line of Confederate forces led by Brigadier General John S. Williams.During and after the battle, both Union and Confederate cavalries utilized the secondary county roads and surrounding family farms—including the Reed Crossing area—for staging, foraging resources, grazing horses, and seeking high-ground vantage points.
